Villa. Early-mid C19 with late C19 alterations and internal refurbishment. White brick. Fairly low pitched slated roof with eaves soffit.
Two storeys, four windows irregularly spaced. Ornamental stucco surrounds to replaced casement windows with external louvred shutters. Lower, probably later, North part. Four modern stone steps, with curved side walls supporting urns, to prostyle Corinthian porch with garlands in frieze. Garden (south) front has projecting semi-circular bay with attached Ionic columns. Late C19 east extensions in Tudor style.
Unusually complete late C19 interior. Living hall panelled with matching chimneypiece and modest panelled staircase. Dining Room has half-timbered bay added and the room has full-height panelling, carved beams and elaborately carved chimneypiece. Reputedly the carving was executed by craftsmen brought over from Normandy. Stained glass armorial window panels. Tiled kitchen with original range. Drawing Room panelled in Louis Seize style with painted grisaille panels, mirrored backs to the two-leaf entrance doors, marble fireplace with gilded over-mirror, marble columned screen to bay with French windows, pier glass etc.
First floor has a landing with vaulted window bay having stained glass armorial panels, curious but effective arrangement of installing a pulpit to gain access to a Louis seize style panelled bedroom with marble fireplace, gilded overmantel mirror, pier glass etc. There is a further Louis Seize style panelled bedroom with painted panel above the marble fireplace. There is a panelled room with carved and painted chimney piece, deeply coffered and painted ceiling, marble wash-basin reputed to have been brought over from a chateau in Normandy. There is a half-timbered bedroom with marble fireplace and carved overmantel with mirror. Marble bathroom with folding doors with mirrors on the interior. The floors throughout are of differently designed parquet.
