LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON MORDEN HALL PARK, MORDEN TQ 26 NE 4/96 Morden Hall 7.5.1954 - II
Manor House, now Council offices. C18 perhaps with earlier origins; later alterations. Stuccoed mid C19. Roof not visible. 2 storeys. North facade 9 windows wide, the centre 3 recessed slightly with projecting Doric solid sided porch, dentil corniced. Square headed architraved windows; sashes, plate glass. Band between storeys. Bay window to left, two bays at ground floor level. Cornice above first floor parapet. Interior retaining large entrance hall with mid C18 carved wood fireplace; mid C18 well staircase with Palladian balustrades and enriched plasterwork to ceiling; bolection moulded panelling to first floor landing; modillioned plaster cornice and 2 tier carved wood fireplace to drawing room, etc. The house was the manor house of Morden and for long the seat of the Garth family.
