LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON HIGH ST, Wimbledon, SW19 TQ 2371 (south side) 5/59 Nos 38A, 38B, 38C, 39, 39A and 39B (Ashford 30.5.75 House) GV II
Block of houses with shops to ground floor. 1720 with alterations and additions of 1907 by Thomson and Pomeroy. Stock brick, red brick dressings. Parapet; roof not visible. C19 shop fronts to ground floor; plate glass. 3 storeys. Irregular 7-bay composition. 3-bay portion to left side C18 with segmental flush framed, horned, sashed windows; glazing bars. To right of this a 2-storey canted bay window rising through first and second storeys; 16 paned sashes. To right of this a late C19 linking bay with round headed entrance. To far right 2 canted 2 storey bay windows to first and second floors. Red brick band between first and second floors. Modillion eaves cornice. Prominent corner site. London 2: South B Cherry and N Pevsner.
