Details
TQ 67 SW NORTHFLEET THE HILL 1/128 No 31 II
Probably the remains of a 15th century open hall. Once the Plough Inn, now used as booking office with flat above. Two storeys. Ground floor rendered, first floor and gable, both oversailing, covered with creosoted weatherboard. Shop windows and door, single casement window of 4 lights on first floor. Tiled roof. A chimney of small 16th century bricks and intricate construction - probably a later insertion - occupied a large proportion of the interior, having a large open fireplace with wooden bressumer on the first floor. There is possibly a similar fireplace on the ground floor which the owner hopes to reveal by removal of modern panelling. The chimney finishes in an elaborate brickwork triple stack. Upright jowled corner posts and curved braces visible internally.
