House. C15, possibly altered late C16 or early Cl7 with mid-C19 and mid- C2O alterations and additions. Timber-framed, painted brick and rendered infill on sandstone rubble and brick base; thatched roofs; very large external brick stack with tiled offsets at rear, also left side elevation external brick stack. Main part of two framed bays with two-framed-bay cross-wing at left gable end; part single storey and attic with dormers, part two storey. Framing: main part cruck-framed, full cruck truss, with alterations to upper right blade, visible in right gable end; irregular panels, mainly three/four from sill to wall-plate; cross-wing has four square panels from sill to wall-plate, swept braces in left side elevation and collar-and-tie-beam trusses with queen struts. Front elevation: main part has an oriel window on two shaped brackets and an eyebrow dormer with 2-light casement; cross-wing gable end has a ground and first floor 3-light casement. Attic lights at right gable end. Main entrance at rear adjacent to cross-wing and has a lean-to porch and C20 glazed door. Interior: three cruck frames visible and some swept wind-braces; main beams are stop- chamfered; large rear chimney has paired inglenook fireplaces heating separate bays. At rear of cross-wing is a two-storey thatched extension.
