Details

TIBBERTON CP MOOR END SO 95 NW Moat Farmhouse 6/209 - II Farmhouse, now house. Early C17 with mid-C19 alterations; restored late C20. Timber-framed with painted brick and rendered infill, painted brick replacement walling, plain tiled roofs. L-plan; main part of two framed bays aligned east/west, west bay having large central chimney with brick ridge stack; cross-wing of two framed bays at west gable end with C19 external chimney to south-west corner. Two storeys. Framing: four rows of panels from sill to wall-plate; cross-wing has large cusped ogee braces in upper corners and also one in second row from wall-plate; collar and tie-beam trusses with struts. North elevation: windows are C20 casements; main part has a first-floor single-light casement; gable end of cross-wing has a ground- and first-floor 3-light window, the ground-floor window has a cambered head. Main entrance in west side elevation of cross-wing; C19 gabled brick porch with dentilled eaves cornice; south entrance with round- arched head and large ledged and battened door within. Interior: main beams are stop-chamfered. Large back-to-back fireplaces to main chimney; doorway with carved and moulded doorhead in central cross-frame of cross-wing on the ground floor. There is a C19 outshut on the south side of the main part. The building stands upon a former moated site.
