C16. Well restored. Timber frame. Single-storeyed, although the exterior expresses
the original 2-storey structure. Altered gabled end to Market Place has C19 tripartite
sash window below gable overhang, ground storey bay with lean-to roof, and recessed
doorway to right. Good timber-framed side to east has close-set vertical members
and 1st floor overhang; 2 C19 casement windows to 1st storey with horizontal sliding
sashes; 6-light coated wood mullioned bay window to ground storey with leaded lights;
good doorway on left-hand side having moulded wood frame with pointed arched head,
carved spandrels and heavy oak ledged door. Tiled roof. The interior, although
much altered and restored, retains much exposed timber framing.

The Public Library, Nos 6 and 6A, Nos 7 and 8 and Walker Hall form a group with
Abbot Reginald's Gateway and The Old Vicarage, Church of St Lawrence, Church of
All Saints, The Bell Tower, Abbot Reginald's Wall and the Porter's Lodge, Remains
of west wall of the North Transept of Abbey, Archway to south of the Remains of
west wall of the North Transept of Abbey, Market Place and Nos 53 and 54 incorporating
Remains of Abbey Gate, Gate and railings of No 53, Remains of Abbey Stables, The
Almonry and The Stocks, Merstow Green.
