2/148 House and attached wall adjoining Windhill 3.6.85 Farmhouse to the east
GV II
House and attached wall. Early C17 with mid-C19 alterations and additions. Timber-framed, brick infill, replacement walling and plinth, weatherboarded at north gable end; plain tiled roof. Two framed bays aligned north/south with external brick stack to east side elevation. Two storeys. Framing: three panels from sill to wall-plate; collar and tie-beam trusses with three struts and V-strut in apex at north gable end; south end truss partly replaced with brick. East side elevation has three ground floor 2-light casements. Attic light (partly blocked) in south gable end. A C19 addition adjoins the west side elevation; single storey with dentilled eaves cornice. Two bays; two stable doors in south elevation; two 2-light casements with cambered.:heads in north elevation. The house is linked to Windhill Farmhouse (qv) by a brick wall with asandstone coping; it is about 10 yards long and eight feet high and has a door and an archway with cambered heads. The house and wall occupy a prominent position in front of the farmhouse, particularly when viewed from the main eastern approach.
