Row of four cottages. C17 with mid-C19 and mid-C20 alterations and additions. Part timber-framed with painted brick and rendered infill, part painted brick; plain tiled roofs. Row aligned north/south; Wrights Cottage [between Lynbury and Post Office (qv)] at south end of two framed bays, chimney in north bay with large brick ridge stack; Lynbury and Wrights Cottage (between Lynbury and Maypole Cottage) of four framed bays with central chimney and brick ridge stack; Maypole Cottage a two-bay brick addition at north end with a central chimney and ridge stack. Wrights Cottage (south end) of two storeys and attic with dormers. Framing: three rows of panels at first floor level; collar and tie-beam truss with three struts and V-strut in apex at north gable end. West front elevation has a 3-light ground floor casement, a pair of 2-light first floor casements and a gabled dormer with 2-light casement; entrance to left. Lynbury and Wrights Cottage (adjoining Lynbury to north): single storey and attic with dormers. Framing: three panels from sill to wall-plate, long straight brace in lower right corner of west elevation. West front elevation: ground floor has a 3-light and a single-light casement, also a 2-light casement with plank weathering; above is a square stairlight and three gabled dormers with pendant finials and 2-light casements; entrances to left side of each cottage have gabled canopies on shaped brackets. Maypole Cottage: single storey and attic with dormer. West front elevation: 3-light ground floor casement, gabled dormer with pendant finial and 2-light casement, entrance to left has gabled canopy. Interiors not inspected. The buildings occupy a prominent situation in the village centre.
