Woonton Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Probably C17 and C18 with later alterations. Brick and
timber-frame with brick infill and sandstone rubble. Tiled and sandstone
slate roofs and brick stacks. Roughly rectangular plan aligned north-west/
south-east consisting of timber-framed L-plan part to north-west, with one-
bay arms projecting to north-west and south-west, and brick C18 part to
south-east. Two storeys. North-east elevation has painted brick part to
left with two windows, 3-light glazing bar casements under cambered heads.
Plat band. Two similar windows to ground floor and a one-light window
to right. Glazed late C20 door to left of centre. Attached to right-hand
side is timber-framed part on high sandstone plinth. Two openings. Tallet
stairs with dog-kennel beneath, rise up left-hand return. South-west gable
of timber-framed part is sandstone rubble. South-east elevation of brick
part has pointed window to upper floor and is unpainted. Interior of timber-
framed part has queen struts to collars.
