Details

LETTON CP - SO 34 NW 3/73 The Gardener's Cottage 2.9.66 GV II House. Probably late C16 to C17 with later alterations. Sandstone rubble base plinth, timber-frame with plaster infill. Tiled roof and brick stack. Rectangular plan aligned roughly north/south. One storey and attic. East elevation has three windows, 2-light mid-C19 casements. The outer casements are in timber-framed gabled dormers with curved struts above ties. The central window is in a projecting timber-framed two-storey porch with two rectangular panels to upper part. Ground floor has catslide roof to left of porch and two windows to its right. The east window has three lights. Porch has open upper sides with balusters and large front corner posts. Ledged C19 door. Frame is three panels high from cill to wall-plate. (BoE. p 233; RCHM, Vol III, p 135).
