YARPOLE CP BIRCHER SO 46 NE 3/132 Knoll Cottage (Nos 1 & 2) [formerly listed as Knoll 11.6.59 Cottage and Home Farm Cottage]

GV II

House, now two houses. Early C17, extended late C17 with some mid-C20 repairs. Timber-frame with painted brick and rendered infill and thatched roof. T-plan, cross-wing aligned east/west, other range to north. Chimney stack with brick shaft at junction of two wings. West front of one storey with attic lit by a gabled dormer to the left. Ground floor has a 3-light casement to left, and two fixed casements under jetty to right. Entrance to left-hand corner has a segmental-roofed porch, half-glazed, with ledged and boarded door. Other entrance to right-hand corner has a half-glazed porch with lean-to roof. Framing is three square panels high, the jetty supported on scroll brackets. (RCHM, 3, p 217, no 30).
