BOCKLETON CP BOCKLETON SO 56 SE 5/4 Lychgate about 60 yards north-east of the 18.4.66 Church of St Michael (formerly listed as two lychgates)
GV II
Lychgate. Probably C15. Timber-framed on rubble base with brick repairs and stone-tiled roof laid in diminishing courses. Roof supported on two arch-braced and chamfered tie-beam trusses with arch-braced wall-plates and swept wind-braces. The bargeboards have traceried reliefwork detailing. There is a central pair of timber gates with old iron latches. The lychgate. may be reconstructed from parts of the former church porch. (VCH, IV, p 244; BoE, p 94).
