Details
SARNESFIELD CP - SO 35 SE 2/97 Woodmanton Cottage 20.2.53 - II Cottage. Probably C17 with later extensions. Sandstone rubble plinth and timber-frame with painted brick infill. Sandstone slate roof with sandstone rubble and brick external end stack. Rectangular two-bay plan aligned roughly east/west with central arm attached to south. One storey and attic. North elevation has two windows, mid-C20 glazing bar 2-light casements in two framed gabled dormers. Ground floor has similar windows and a central late C20 timber- framed porch with entry in left-hand return. Brick lean-to to left-hand side. Sandstone lean-to on right-hand side. Both gables have scissor struts forming lozenges. Frame is three square panels high from cill to wall-plate. Interior not inspected. One of the gabled dormers has curved braces with spurs, possibly early C17. Rear, late C20, addition is in reproduction timber-framing.
