Farmhouse. C17, altered mid-late C18 and subsequently. Timber-frame on a rubble plinth - mostly rebuilt in and clad with red brick; plain tiled roof with overhanging eaves; off-centre brick stack. 2 storeys, cellar and garrets. 3 windows to main part at left; irregular mixture of glazing bar sashes, one tripartite and one 3-light at first floor left, under flat and cambered brick heads. Plain band over. Central C20 door and porch. Setback at the right is a former dairy wing which has an exposed timber-frame and red brick infil. Single storey and attic, and two C20 windows and a door. Interior: Wide chamfered beams and timber-frame exposed in parts. Ground floor left room has an early - mid C18 chimney piece with a pulvinated frieze and a tall open pediment and Elton family arms. Fine dog-leg staircase with moulded handrail, closed string and turned balusters. First floor: two oak panelled rooms with palmette style frieze and panelled doors. (RCHM, Vol II, 1932).
