House. Early C17 with later additions and alterations. Timber-framed, rendered brick and lath and plaster infill, tiled roof, brick shafts with sandstone base to main stack, sandstone lining to cellar. Roughly L-plan with right forward projecting wing and later extension projecting to the right at rear, main entrance to the left, main stack at rear of right wing now enclosed, further stack at rear and third later stack to left gable end. Main elevation: 2 storeys with right gabled projecting. wing of 2 framed bays, central gabled framed-bay and 2 further bays to left with later raised roof. Irregular fenestration: first floor has C20 metal easement to left, single casement. and 3-light ovolo moulded mullioned window with metal casements and leading to central ground bay and similar window to right wing,- ground floor has 2-light leaded casement to left and 5-light ovolo-moulded mullioned window with leaded metal casements to right wing; C20 partly glazed door to central gabled bay with stone steps up. Framing: 2 panels from'sill to mid- rail and 2 panels from mid-rail to wall-plate, diagonal bracing from sill to post at right gable end; queen struts and V-struts in gables, continuous weather planking at lintels. Toward rear of right wing stack has 2-star plan shafts linked by arch. Resited heavy ledge_door at rear of later extension, Interior: fine cross-beamed ceiling with some ovolo moulded chamfers; C17 panelling in main room of right wing, altered Tudor-arched stone fireplace has large wooden overmantel with Jacobean strapwork design. The window con- tains some stained glass panes with heraldic designs possibly C19. Documented as having pair cruck blades, not visible June 1984 (CBA Cruck Catalogue, no 42, 1981). Formerly known as Wall House.
