GV II
Farmhouse. Early C17 with later C19 alterations and additions. Timber- framed, painted brick infill, some brick replacement walling, tiled roofs, coursed sandstone rubble chimney with rebuilt brick stack at upper end of main roof ridge, also late C19 external brick stack to left side elevation. Hall and cross-wing plan, both of 2 framed bays; hall part retains through- passage. Two storeys and attic with cellar beneath cross-wing. Framing: regular square panels, 4 from sill to wall-plate, double collar queen strut truss in cross-wing gable ends, queen strut truss in left gable end of main part. Irregular fenestration. Front elevation: Main part has 2 ground floor casements and lean-to extension at left end with a casement; 2 first floor casements; cross-wing gable end to right has ground and first floor casements and an attic light. Gabled porch adjoins lean-to extension at right end; tiled roof on rendered sandstone side walls and 3 moulded stone balusters, walls have niches at ends and inner sides decorated with plaster fleur-de-lys, shells etc; the stonework is reused from the Old Severn Bridge in Worcester. Part-glazed door has eared architrave, ears of carved panels and architrave beneath decorated with carved bearded foxes and rosettes. Interior: Roof has intermediate queen strut trusses and single, trenched purlins. Close-set vertical studding visible to rear ground floor wall of cross-wing adjoining hall. Main beams have moulded chamfers and stops. C19 single storey extension at left gable end and also wing to rear left with an outshut and ridge end stack.
