House. Dated 1838; late C19 additions and alterations. Brick with ashlar
dressings, tiled roofs, parapets at gable ends having moulded copings and
kneelers; massive chimney stacks, the 4 to the main part of the building
having paired shafts, 2 with octagonal caps and oversailing cap courses,
2 with cogged brick courses. Jacobethan style; symmetrical facade and multi-
gabled roofline. Two storeys; moulded eaves cornice to front, cogged eaves
detail at rear. Front elevation facing garden: 3 gabled bays; outer bays
have a 4-light ground floor and a 3-light first floor, cavetto-moulded
mullioned window. In the gables are stone shields with the initials of
the original owner (?) on the left and the date 1838 on the right one. The
gabled central bay projects; the ground floor is of ashlar and has a central
pointed arched doorway with hood mould, dagger-lobed trefoils in spandrels,
and canted sides with side lights; panelled timber door; the first floor has
corbelled sides, ashlar quoins and a central oriel window with pointed arched
lights; above is a coat of arms set in a square niche. Interior not
inspected. A 2-storey brick extension adjoins to right and to the left is
a mid-C19 conservatory with arcaded glazing and crested ridge.
