Public house. C16-C17, remodelled in later C17-early C18; renovations of 1985. Timber frame, encased and rebuilt in brick, rough rendered. Pantile roof. L-shaped on plan, with 3-room front (now opened out to 2 rooms), wing to rear left and outshut in angle. 2 storeys, 4 first-floor windows. Plinth. 6-fielded-panel door flanked by tripartite sashes with glazing bars beneath segmental arches; 16-pane sash to right. 16-pane first-floor sashes. Deep eaves. Roof hipped to left. Rebuilt axial and end stacks. Interior of front range contains original spine beam to ground floor, pair of wall posts with rail at first-floor level, and arch-braces to wall plate with stop-splayed scarf, exposed beam to first floor. Not fully investigated. Timbers exposed during building work in 1980 suggested that the present building incorporates 2 adjoining timber-framed houses.
