Details
RISE RISE ROAD TA 14 SE (south side, off) 3/26 Stables and coach-house to Rise Hall 16.12.66 GV II Stables and coach-house, now outbuildings. Early C19 with later additions and alterations, including weather-vane dated 1880. Probably by Robert Abraham for the Bethell family. Pinkish-brown brick in Flemish bond with red brick dressings and graduated Welsh slate roofs. Approximately square on plan with central yard now covered over. Main front range: 2 storeys, 7 bays with central pedimented breakforward. Central carriage entrance to full height with round arch of red gauged brick, now with corrugated-iron doors and blocked lunette with inserted 5-pane window. Ground floor has 12- pane sashes, 4-pane sashes to first floor, all with ashlar sills and under flat arches of red gauged brick. Dentil cornice and moulding to pediment. Painted clock in pediment. Central wooden cupola surmounted by weather- vane. Hipped roof. Ashlar mounting block to right of entrance. Rear range occupied by former coach-houses: single-tall-storey, 3-bay centre with single-storey, single-bay ranges to either side. Centre has 3 round-arched openings to full height with red brick heads and wooden fielded panel 'fanlights'. Ashlar impost band. Left range has board door with boarded overlight under flat arch of red rubbed brick. Right range has 6-fielded- panel door with divided overlight under flat arch of red rubbed brick and 12-pane sash with ashlar sill under flat arch of red rubbed brick. Dentil cornice. Hipped roof with side stack to centre and hipped roofs to ends of ranges.
