GV II

Road bridge. 1827 by Sir John Rennie, for the Commissioners of the Ancholme Drainage and Navigation. Widened to south in C20, re-using original south face. Ashlar bridge with brick flanks to abutments. Single span, of double carriageway width, between abutments splayed out to entrances. Similar faces to north and south. Segmental arch with carved bracketed keystone, hood-mould, banded rustication to spandrels, moulded cornice and coped parapet, between abutments with broad moulded plinths and projecting piers with plinths, moulded cornices and coped upper sections, linked by coped parapets to smaller similar outer piers. North face somewhat obscured by pipelines. This bridge is also in the parishes of Broughton and Glanford Brigg.
