Gate lodge. Mid C19 with minor C20 restorations and additions to rear. For Nelthorpe Estate. Limestone ashlar with sandstone ashlar dressings; yellow brick stacks and patching to walls. Welsh slate roof. Jacobethan style. Cross-shaped on plan: 4 rooms with entrance porch to south, contemporary outhouse range adjoining to rear with C20 conservatory infill. Single storey with attic, 3 bays to front, with central bay projecting. Chamfered plinth, quoins. Flight of 3 stone steps to projecting open porch with chamfered 4-centred arch beneath coped gable with shaped kneelers; similar open arches to sides with wooden Gothic traceried balustrades. Porch interior has plastered quadripartite vault supported on moulded corbels, chamfered 4-centred arch doorway with Gothic panelled door in roll-moulded architrave. Coped shaped gable with shaped kneelers and moulded octagonal finial bears relief panel with Nelthorpe arms below hood-mould. Left and right returns of central bay have projecting bays with quoins, 3-light ovolo-mullioned windows with glazing bars in chamfered reveals beneath continuous dripmoulds, and narrow ashlar slit windows in coped gables with shaped kneelers. Similar gabled window to right wing; left wing has 2-light mullioned window beneath hood-mould. Left and right returns of side wings have canted ground-floor bay windows with 2 pointed lights to front and single lights to sides beneath moulded cornices; slit lights above in coped gables with octagonal finials and shaped kneelers. Central cross-shaped stack. Forms gate lodge to Scawby Park.
