12/41 Barn approximately 30 metres north-west of Brandicarr Farmhouse
GV II
Threshing barn. 1787 for Yarborough Estate. Yellow brick, pantile roof. Rectangular on plan, forms north side of crew-yard. 2 storeys, 9 bays. South side; 2-fold board door with wrought-iron strap hinges beneath segmental arch to sixth bay, flanked by 5 slit vents to left, single slit vent and small C20 casement to right. 4 circular iron tie-bar ends at first-floor level. First floor: 5 slit vents to left, 3 to right. Stepped and dentilled brick eaves cornice. Left return: 4 slit vents to ground and first floors, attic pitching hatch beneath segmental arch, with single slit vents to each side and 3 above, tumbled-in brick to gable. Right return: lower section obscured by adjoining stable range, 5 slit vents to gable. North side: sliding board door to left of centre with wooden hood on shaped brackets over runners; 3 slit vents to left, 4 slit vents and small wooden hatch beneath timber lintel to right. First floor: board door to right of centre with ashlar sill and segmental arch, pitching hatch to left beneath segmental arch, 8 slit vents. Adjoining stable range to east is not of special interest.
