Details
WRAWBY MILL LANE TA 00 fill (west side) 8/51 Wrawby Post Mill 19/10/51 - II * Post mill. Mid - late C18, with base rebuilt and encased in C19. Extensively restored in 1964. Painted weather-boarded timber mill superstructure on tarred brick base with shingle roof. Single-storey base, round on plan, with 2-storey revolving mill tower above. Base: 2 recessed board doors with lintels and one segmental-arched 3-light casement; domed roof with sheet metal skirting to eaves. Mill tower rectangular in plan with pointed-arch roof. Tail-pole and flight of steps to rear entrance with board door and hatch above with wrought-iron strap hinges. Sides have small single casement to each floor. Full set of 4 single-shutter sails to front. Interior. Superstructure carried on original cross-tree and main post supported on timber cross-frame within brick base. Timber machinery largely restored, with 2 sets of stones. In full working order. A prominent landmark, and the only surviving working post mill in Lincolnshire - Humberside. In the care of the Wrawby Mill Preservation Society. Photographs in NMR.
