Details
TA 0239 BEVERLEY NORTH BAR WITHOUT (west side) 7/245 No 29 2.7.69 GV II* Circa 1730, with later porch. Architect probably William Wrightson. Front, stucco, 3 storeys and cellars: 5 windows, sashes without glazing bars to ground and 1st floors, 1st floor cill band. Hipped slate roof, parapet and cornice. Tuscan porch with 2 columns of c.1800, door has 6 fielded panels, wood case with attenuated columns below transom, entablature and wide arched fanlight. Side elevation preserves modillion cornice. Interior has an open hall with staircase going up to galleried landing. Staircase is pseudo-cantilevered; and has open string, alternately iron-twist balusters, moulded handrail and spiral curtail with iron-twist terminal newel; no newel on landing; fielded panelling. Ground floor front room has chimneypiece with shouldered moulded architrave and mid C19 cast iron grate. Rear first floor room has an apparently mid C18 chimneypiece, which is, however, probably made by Elwell.
