Details
SD 81 SW HEYWOOD ELBUT LANE (west side) 5/16 Higher Elbut Farmhouse and attached stable and barn. (formerly listed as Higher Elbut 15.12.1967 Farmhouse Elbut Lane Birtle (with adjoining buildings)) II
Farmhouse, barn and former stable. Late C17. Coursed stone with stone slate roof. 2-unit, 2-storey plan with central entrance, former stable addition to left and barn added to right, all under one continuous roof. The central door has square-cut jambs and lintel, to the left an 4-light (with one mullion removed) and to the right a 2-light window with double chamfered mullions and headmoulds; the first floor has one 4-light (with one mullion removed) and one 2-light flush chamfered mullion windows. The axial ridge stack is to the left. The stables are of one bay and the barn of three with large opposed cart openings with timber lintels, the rear one having been bricked in. The entire group has been lime-washed.
