Details

HAWKHURST MOOR HILL TQ 7429-7529 (east side) 18/387 Dragons GV II Gate lodge (to Hall Place). Mid C19. Red brick with diapered blue headers, with ashlar and ashlar dressings elsewhere, and with timber framed upper floor with plaster infill. Plain tiled roofs. 'Old English' style with irregular plan. Two storey range of 1 room depth, with 2 storeys jettied over roadside and barge- boarded gable on brackets. Mullioned and transomed oriel on first floor, and traceried Perpendicular style stone window on ground floor. Right return (entrance front) with mullioned and transomed oriel taken up as semi-dormer with finialed bargeboarded gable, and with traceried panelled 4-centred arched door and moulded doorway with sidelight in stone surround. Brick 1-storey wing to rear right with kneelered parapet gable and with stone surrounds to narrow light. The roadside elevation (to left) continues with single storey ashlar range, with long 13-light mullioned window, and kneelered parapet gabled semi dormer at end left, with wooden casements. Left return elevation with cross-looped lights, and four centred arched doorway.
