Details

FRITTENDEN BUCKHURST ROAD TQ 8040-8140 (south side) 14/19 Weaver's Den 20.6.67 GV II House. C16 or earlier. Timber framed and exposed with plaster infill, with weather boarding to rear and return elevations and red and blue brick outshot. Plain tiled roof. Lobby entry plan of hall house origin, of 5 framed bays that to end left a later addition. Two storeys of large panel framing iwth irregular tension and arched bracing, with small section of studding to upper end right. Roof half-hipped to right with stacks moulded and clustered to right, and projecting and offset with attached outshot at end left. Five wooden and metal casements on each floor, and boarded doors to left, to centre right and at end right. Blocked door frame to right in front of stack. Small section of (moved?) moulding over centre right doorway. Catslide outshot to rear. Reportedly a cloth hall, Igglesden records soot blackened roof timbers and 'elegantly carved' window frame, now decayed (vol 16, 1923).
