Details

ROCHESTER HIGH STREET St TQ 7467 NE Margaret's Banks) 12/97 Nos 300, 300A and 302 24.10.50 GV II Pair of houses. Mid C18. Flemish bond red brick; Kent tile roof. Double-depth plan with end gable stacks. 3 storeys. Front: symmetrical, 4 bays; 3 storey tripartite canted bays with central 12-pane and outer 8-pane sashes to ground and 1st floor, 6-pane centre and 4-pane outer sashes to 2nd floor. Projecting wooden architrave with cornice to ground and 1st floor windows only. All original sashes except to ground and 1st floor of No 300. Between the canted bays the centre windows with sashes in reveals under rubbed brick flat arches, 12 panes to 1st, 6 panes to 2nd floor. 2 doorways approached by flights of stone stairs are divided by an arched central alley passage with architrave surround and glazing bar fanlight. 2 Tuscan Doric doorcases with bases and capitals, three-quarter columns and panelled reveals, triglyph frieze broken forward over columns, dentils and pediments. Eaves level wooden console bracket cornice broken forward over each canted bay. Stone coping to parapet. Interior not inspected.
