2/17 Stubsgill Farmhouse, 9.3.67 area wall & gate piers, & byre adjoining to south- west

C House, initialled and dated on door lintels: M I 1681 (to rear cross-passage door); MCI (or T,'or J) 1712 (to main door on left at front); J.P. 1846 (to front cross-passage door on extreme right). 4th datestone (1692), mentioned in previous list, not located. Later additions and alterations. Pebble-dashed rubble. Graduated slate roof with outshut to rear; 2 brick chimneys, one mid, one end. 2 storeys, 7 bays. Panelled main door has 2 windows to either side on each floor; plank cross-passage door has single window to left and 2 above. All windows C20 double-glazing in late C18/early C19 stone surrounds; 2 to ground floor left have lower sills. Area wall snecked rubble with flat coping, c4 ft high; rusticated gate piers opposite main door square in plan with corniced caps. Lower byre range probably C17; later additions and alterations. Slobbered rubble with quoins and chamfered eaves. Graduated slate roof. 2 storeys (originally 3?), 4 bays. Door to each floor; C20 lean-to, with door above, to right. Part-blocked door to left has 2 blocked windows (originally mullioned and transomed) above with 2 blocked mullioned 2-light windows under eaves.
