Town Hall; 1889-90 (Pevsner). Snecked rubble with quoins on chamfered plinth;
string between floors. Graduated slate roofs with stone copings, kneelers, and
finials to gables; corniced stone chimney to north end. Symmetrical 2-storey
elevation with 5-stage tower; 2:1:2 bays. Ground-floor to central tower has
panelled door and fanlight in 4-centred door-surround with cast-iron lamp
bracket above. Tower has segment-headed openings; clock to top stage.
Pyramidal roof has gablets to each side and weathervane to top. Sashes to bays
on either side of tower have triangular-headed surrounds to ground floor and
segment-headed surrounds to 1st floor; louvre above in gable. 3 sashes to each
floor on south return, all in segment-headed surrounds.
