SD 27 NE 16/106 PENNINGTON Whinfield Farm 2 and 3, Old Farm Cottage and 8, The Rear Cottage

(Formerly listed as Whinfield Farm Cottages, PENNINGTON)

II Two houses, one now outbuilding. Probably late C17 with alterations. Roughcast stone with slate roof. Two storeys,four bays, fourth bay later. Second bay of ground floor has four-light single-chamfered-mullioned windows with label mould. First bay of ground floor and first three bays of first floor have dilapidated sashed windows with vertical glazing bars; fourth bay has label mould. Entrances to second and third bays; fourth bay has hrough passage under flat arch. Small-paned window onto passage. One remaining cross-axial stack. Rear has inhabited wing with casement windows, one small-paned window.

Interior has chamfered beams, one fireplace has corbelled lintel.
