Low Whineray Ground, farmhouse with adjoining byre, earth closet, and cart shed

Farmhouse and adjoining outbuildings. C17 or earlier; later additions and
alterations. Slobbered rubble with quoins; part lime-washed. Graduated
slate roof. Two storeys. House originally three bays, later extended into former
scullery (probably added C18) at north end. Last elevation: Plank door with
sash to left and casement to right; C20 window inserted to far right.
Four pivoted casements above. Plank door to north return with stone steps up to
1st floor door. Outbuildings adjoin south and under same roof; four bays overall.
Entrance to byre in 2-bay outshut with 2-seater earth-closet up stairs to left.
Steps up to loft door on left of outshut; cart-shed door, with fixed window
above, to far left. Stone mid-chimneys; stone coping to south gable.
INTERIOR: C17 court cupboard (date cut out) built into south wall in hall
passage; long dresser built into west wall in rear passage. Front room (north)
has moulded and chamfered beams; corniced C18 fireplace with fluted and reeded
keystone. Wall cupboard to right. Window seats. Upper cruck.
