GV II*
Farmhouse, and outbuildings. House late C17 and early C18 with C19 alterations,
cowhouse mid C18, barn early to mid C19. Stone rubble, the house roughcast, and
slate roofs. House L-plan, 2 storeys, 3-bay south facade with 3-bay lower rear
wing. South facade has gutter on scrolly brackets. Windows are sashed with
vertical glazing bars and horns. Entrance has 6-panel door and gabled slate
hood. Gable-end stacks. West facade has deep slate dripcourse over 1st floor;
dripcourse to ground floor of wing and to gable. Scrolly gutter brackets.
Windows with small-paned glazing to ground floor of wing; 1st floor has casement
windows; gable end has small-paned casement and 2 blocked attic windows. Wing
has central entrance with gabled slate hood. Gable-end stack. Rear has wooden
mullioned window of 2 round-headed lights and 3-light wooden chamfered-mullioned
window with intermediate bars and leaded glazing. Small stable to north gable
end has entrance, window, and 1st floor loading door. Cow house to east of
stable has 7 tie beam and strut trusses. Various entrances and windows,
2 pitching holes and ventilation slots. Barn to east of cow house has 3-bay
east elevation; pivoted doors in cheeks. Gable-end triangular owl holes. Pig
sty to south gable end has single pitch roof and enclosure. C18 privy has
gabled roof and entrance and window to south adjoining C20 lean-to shed to south
of cow house. Interior of house has many C17 and C18 fittings. 2 upper cruck
trusses to each wing; 2-panel doors and some panelling; 2 spice cupboards one
dated: "AIM 1704", closed well staircase; parlour bed cupboard. 1st floor wide
floorboards and stud and plaster partitions. One window has pivoted internal
shutters. Property of the National Trust who have compiled survey report.
