Farmhouse. Early C17 and substantially enlarged in C20.
Coursed rubble coal measures sandstone with quoins, coped gables
with moulded kneelers, ridge and side wall stone stacks, stone
slated roof. Irregular plan, originally a four-bay range with
central stack, to which has been recently added a four-bay
crosswing at the south end. The east elevation has two 2-light
recessed chamfer mullioned windows and a C20 2-light mullion,
above and to the south of the doorway, which has a chamfer
quoined surround and a plain plank door. All windows with
casement frames. West elevation with full width coped gable to
second bay, containing 2,3 and 4-light recessed chamfer
mullioned windows beneath dripmoulds. At the north end, a plain
doorway and a C20 external stone stack. At the south end, the
C20 range with ashlar dressings and openings, reflecting the
local vernacular style. North gable with 2,3 and 4-light
openings, mostly with C17 mullions intact.
