Derwent Farmhouse
II

Farmhouse. Early C18, with earlier fragments, and C20 additions. Coursed rubble
gritstone with quoins to north east end, coped gable to C20 advanced bay at south
west end, intermediate ashlar ridge stacks, and a stone slated roof. Two storeys
six bays, the four central bays being the earlier part, with 2-light recessed
mullion windows, slightly chamfered, and with some C20 renewals of decayed stone
frames. Leaded lights and glazing bar casements, all C20, one 2-light opening
with sash frames, and one with undivided casement frames, all C20. C20, 4-light
flush mullioned windows to advanced gable and to ground floor of adjoining bay.
Two doorways, one early C19 with shallow bracketed flat hood, partially renewed,
and with C20 planked door, the other within remodelled north east end bay. This
has the first floor jettied on stone corbels, and a gablet above a 2-light first
floor window. Plain doorway with planked door. Rear elevation has a recessed
chamfer mullioned window below dripmould.
