Details

SK 44 30 PARISH OF SHARDLOW AND GREAT WILNE WILNE LANE, GREAT 7/222 WILNE (West Side) Barn to South of Wilne Farmhouse GV II Threshing barn. Mid C18 with late C19 addition. Red brick with vitrified headers and plain tile roof. Single storey, seven bays, originally five bays. Mid C18 part has advanced full height central openings to east and west elevations with three rows of slit breathers to each side. Eastern side also has stepped brick buttresses to either side. Late C19 bays to north have segment headed windows and door to west side. Interior has four large mid C18 trusses with staggered single purlins, ridge beams, and windbraces. Trusses each have a high collar, side struts, a crossed apex and are pegged. Late C19 bays have a floor and sawn timber trusses.
