Formerly 2 houses in row with further 2 in row added across one
end, now 2 attached houses. Early C17 with C18 addition; pair of
houses added in c1880. Random rubble limestone; ashlar dressings
on Pound Cottage; rock-faced chimneys at west end, ashlar with
moulded cap at east; stone-slate roofs. C17 house of 2 storeys,
2 rooms with cross-passage, gable end fireplace and spiral
staircase. Pair of single-storey single-room houses with attic
and central chimney stack. Lean-to in angle at back. Scattered
fenestration to Pound Cottage: at front, 2-light recessed cavetto
mullioned window with hoodmould to left of doorway with chamfered
surround and Tudor arch, now blocked. 2 timber casements to upper
floor with timber lintels. North gable end shows signs of the
roof being raised; projecting round-ended bread oven; single-
light chamfered stair window. Fenestration to back is principally
C19: timber casements with timber lintels; to left of doorway a
small single-light window with recessed chamfered surround and
hoodmould. Front to Dunromin has fenestration to ground floor
only, each house having a segmental arched doorway and window,
plank door and small-paned casement. Gable end to road has attic
timber casement with timber lintel; inserted timber casement to
ground floor with deep stone lintel; exposed purlin ends in gable.
Gable end spiral staircases survive in both houses that comprise
Pound Cottage.
