13/33 Nos 40 and 41 (Woodbine Cottage) with water pump and trough
GV II
2 cottages, semi-detached. C18/early C19. No 41 right, coursed, squared limestone facade, other walls limestone rubble. No 40 limestone rubble, rebuilt C20 at left end. Both under continuous thatched roof. No 41 has ashlar limestone chimney from right gable end and rectangular brick stack from eaves left. No 40 has rectangular brick stack off centre, from ridge. No 41: 2 up 2 down with cross passage dividing 2 ground floor rooms. Spiral stair from cross passage rear left. 2 storeys 2-windowed. Late C19/early C20 metal casements with glazing bars and large stone lintels. Central plank door with C19 thumb latch. Metal canopy over door. No 40: 2 storeys. 1-windowed single dormer with thatched hood with early C19, 2-light casement with glazing bars. Similar casement to ground floor which is lit by two 6-light sashes with horns in addition. Plank door with cover strips, C19 thumb latch, decorative C19 knocker. Metal canopy over.
C19 iron water pump by Appleby and Co., Penishaw Iron Works, Chesterfield with stone trough in rear garden left of No 40. No 40 largely for group value.
