GV II

House. Late C17. Ashlar in courses of differing heights. Limestone slate roof with flat coped gables and roll cross saddles at gable ends. Group of 4 square ashlar chimneys off centre right in line with front door; single similar chimney from gable left, all with moulded upper and lower courses. Lobby entrance plan, 3 rooms, one room deep. Stair wing projects forward, right of front door. Projecting porch at rear (not in original position). 2 storeys and attic, lit by single dormer from roof. 3:1-windowed. 2, 3 and 4-light, flat chamfered, stone mullioned windows with stopped hoods and C20 metal casements with leaded lights. One king mullioned window. Unpainted plank door in flush, 4-centred, flat-chamfered, arched surround. Initials and date IT 1711 on left quoin. Interior: Inglenook fireplace with large bressummer left of stack. Reused tie beam with very large moulded stops. Various dates and initials inscribed on inside of one of chamfer of far left window. Earliest inscription in house E.B 1680, on beam over stairs. Ground floor only inspected.
