25.8.60 Newlands Farmhouse

(Former Middle Farm.) Early C18. Two storeys and cellar; in 2 parts, right hand bay
an afterthought. Ashlar built; Cotswold stone roof with coped verges, and 2 ridge
chimneys framing the original 5 bays. Band over ground floor. Mullioned windows in
rebated surrounds. Originally central bolection doorcase. Chamfered plinth. Right
hand bay has a small 2-light mullion window on 1st floor and a wide entry below,
originally taller, with timber lintel.

Band returned to North (blocked 2-light mullion window) and to South inside the
carriageway (another blocked window on 1st floor). Linked by modern lobby to former
kitchen and bakery of early mid-C19 and with Cotswold stone roof.

Interior: south room has evidence of a bread oven in wide lintel fireplace.
First floor South room has chamfered beams and joists; the North room had a corner
fireplace.

No barn attached (demolished since previous list).
