Early C18, ground floor altered C19. Ashlar with Cotswold stone roof. Formal
Queen Anne town house. Two storeys and attics, 4 windows. Ground floor extensively
adapted: moulded surround to left hand window, 2 large modern glazing bar sashes with
unusual modern segmental cornices to right. Narrow panelled door with unusual modern
pediment and modern pilasters. First floor string course. Four sashes with glazing
bars above, with moulded stone architraves and bull-nosed cills. Roof with stone
verges and ashlar end stacks, 3 original dormers with leaded casements, the outer
ones pedimented, the centre one with segmental pediment.
U-plan, right hand rear rising has an upper cruck; front roof has 2 collar-trusses
with king posts and through purlins. Recent work uncovered a painted emblem of the
Apothecaries Company; restored by Mrs Eve Baker and now set on internal wall close
to original position.
