Dwelling, formerly also with shop. C16 or earlier. Rough rendered on timber frame,
part visible in one gable; also one section exposed framing (left), stone slate
roofs. One large and one small gable projected from ridge roof, stone stack left, but
right of through entry, and second brick stack; L-shaped premises with deep projection
right, back. Main gable set back from gables each side. Three storeys, two
windowed; small two-light casement gable right; three-light casement with leaded
lights under stone slate roof and with projecting wood cill, left; doubled two-light
casement, first floor main gable. Good six-panel door in broad frame, left; recent
two windowed unit under moulded fascia ground floor, projected forward to plane of
lesser gable.
Interior contains much original timber work to roof and floors, solid oak treads to
broad newel stair: bottom newel round, upper level hexagonal (and eccentric to newel
below) very thin framed wall to top gable (about 4 ins). Large fireplace adjoining
through-way, left reputed to have been blocked in 1936; stone moulded mantel still
visible in two separate rooms.
One room back, with C18 window shutters.
