Public house. Early C16, floored and heated in early C17. Extended C19.
Timber frame on brick base, weatherboarded with bead mouldings. Tiled
roof, machine tiles to rear. 2 bay open hall with storied bays at each
end, now 1 storey and attic with C19 dairy added to right, service end.
Ground floor: 2 entrances to right, one as a lobby entry to inserted
stack, small hood over right door. 2 and 3 light small pane slightly
recessed casements to left. Three 2 light small pane gabled dormers.
Axial cruciform ridge stack to right of centre is C17 stretcher bond red
brick with rebuilt capping. Left gable weatherboarding over a C20 brick
lean-to. Right gable weatherboarding over rough cast brick dairy with a
canted bay window with a 16 pane sash to front, weatherboarded right end
with a cross casement. To rear a C19 stack. To rear of main range a low
gabled C19 wing. Interior: exposed frame of large scantling, cambered
tie beams, stop chamfers on posts and on cross axial bearers. (RCHM
