Former west lodge to Dowdeswell Court (q.v.). Built mid-late C19
for the Rogers family. Ashlar, slate roof. Rectangular main body
with central 3-bays projecting at front and back. C20 extension in
same style extending back rear left, the whole forming a 'u'-shaped
plan. Italianate single storey, 1:2:1-windowed tetrastyle temple
front with wings set back slightly either side. Triangular
pediment with antefixae and acroterion over central 3 bays.
Central C20 door with glazing bars up 3 steps with Rogers family
shield in projecting stone canopy above, round-headed 4-pane sashes
within moulded architraves, with projecting sills; similar windows
to wings either side. Moulded hood over with Rogers family
heraldic shield flanked by flowers and fruit above. Doorways
flanked by engaged fluted Corinthian columns, pilasters also with
Corinthian capitals at corners, rusticated quoins at corners of
main body. Stone balustrade at level of frieze either side of
projecting porch. Formerly main entrance to Dowdeswell Court.
