Post Office and cottage, one occupation. Post Office dated and
initialled I. C. 1729 on stone in top course of facade. Merlin
Cottage C19. Post Office: coursed squared and finely dressed
limestone, limestone slate roof with flat gable coping, stumps of
ashlar stacks. Merlin Cottage: coursed squared and roughly
dressed limestone, slate roof with flat gable coping, artificial
stone stack. Post Office rectangular in plan with cottage
attached right. Post Office: symmetrical facade: 2 storeys and
attic lit by two C19 two-light roof dormers with wood casements:
3-windowed; 2 mullioned and transomed casements flanking central
single light with transom. Two C20 bay shop windows to either side
of central part glazed C20 door below with flat leaded hood
supported on brackets. Continuous band over shop windows. Merlin
Cottage: one-windowed; two 12-pane wood casements with cambered
heads. C20 part-glazed door left with lattice work hood over.
Flat coping on gable ends of Post Office roof with stumps of end
stacks both repaired C20. Merlin Cottage: flat gable end coping
and C20 artificial stone right gable end stack.
