5/344 Barn at Doughton Manor, to north west of house 6.9.54

Barn. Late C16. Rubble stone with quoins, Cotswold stone-slate roof. Long range extended on right beyond existing quoin blocks of original barn, with very large projecting opposed gable entry to left with round relieving arch above heavy timber lintel and with single trefoil head stone vent above. Left end is hipped. 4 bays (+ hip) of king post trusses and 3 trenched purlins, timbers renewed probably in late C18. 1st floor on each side of cart entry, supported on steel beams. Small lean-to to left of cart- entry, 2 buttresses along wall to right. Tiered doors and timber hinge post remaining on left-hand side only of cart entry.
