Large house, now shop and flats over. 1620, built by Richard
Talboys. Stucco, apparently over coursed rubble stone, Cotswold
stone slate roof to front, concrete tile to rear, stacks not
visible. Main range with 2 cross gables, projecting as
two 3-storey square bays to front, and long ranges to rear. Central shop
doorway and 2 large shop windows in base of bays with square
hoodmoulds, with additional small light to right, and door to
through passageway to left. First floor has 4-light stone mullion
with ovolo moulding and king mullion and 2 single side lights to
each square bay, with continuous dripmould. Below left-hand window
is panel of ornamental plasterwork with initials RT. Gables each
have 3-light stone mullion window with square hoodmoulds and 2
single side lights, outer ones also with square hoodmould. Gables
are coped. Central 4-pane sash over shop door.
INTERIOR: First floor has wood newel stair and fine original stone
fireplace with ballflower frieze which has been moved from below
the newel stair to another wall. Additional original stone
fireplace in adjacent room.
