Possibly originally one large house, now semi-detached and divided
into three, and enlarged to rear. Early C18, possibly on older
core, enlarged along Chapel Walk in Cl9. Rubble stone, faced in
incised render (except for C19 section in Chapel Walk), on applied
dressed stone plinth partly collapsed, stone slate roof, stone end
and ridge stacks rebuilt to right end. Semi-derelict at time of
survey (March 1986). L-plan with rear wing as No 1 Chapel Walk, 2
storeys and attic. Three windows, 12-pane sashes, with 2 on ground
floor and central stone doorcase to No 32 up 2 stone steps with
open pediment, recessed 6-panel door with top 4 glazed and lower 2
flush, and flanking narrow side lights also in stone frame and each
with bootscraper in arched recess at pavement level. Additional
probably inserted door to right to No 30 in plain stone surround,
also with recessed 6-panel door up 2 stone steps. Right hand
return to No 30 has large 12-pane sash on first floor with semi-
circular radial glazed top. Recessed 6-panel door in rear wing to
No 1 Chapel Walk with blind window recess above and 12-pane sash to
each floor to right. Internal fielded-panel window shutters remain
to most windows including semi-circular headed window. Two hipped
dormers with paired casements to centre and left through eaves,
originally with a third to right of which sill only remains.
Additional rear section of No 1 has 12-pane sash over 2-light
cambered head casement and rounded cellar arch. Whole of roughcast
faced section on right hand return has dilapidated 2-tier spear
head wrought iron railings with returns to building, also probably
of C18. Interiors not accessible but may be of interest.
