II
Castellated barn. c1750, probably by Thomas Wright, a "folly" barn
built as such as part of the vista from Worcester Lodge (q.v.).
Random coursed rubble stone with alternating flush quoins and with
straight embattled parapets to raised south walls of opposed cart
entries and south gable end. Stone slate roof to main barn,
corrugated asbestos to lean-to to east and steep lean-to to left on
south side, double Roman tile roof to lean-to to west. Opposed
entries, hipped to west and 2-storey half-hipped to east with pitch
hole, both without doors. Barn of 6 or 7 bays (whole length of
interior not visible at time of survey, March 1986), queen post
trusses. Lean-to to north of each entry, 3-bay open animal shelter
to west, and closed in shelter to east. Slit vents and small
square vents to barn, some blocked.
